Online Workshop: Oral presentation

With Trainer Philipp Gramlich from NaturalScience.Careers

22.09.2020 – 25.09.2020

Presenting your work in front of an audience is a great way to disseminate your research and to get in touch with fellow scientists. But it is not always as easy as it looks, and does not come naturally to everyone. For some of us, it is also scary ... Learn strategies here for giving good talks!

In this course you ́ll learn more about:

  • Setting analysis: Who will you speak to in which setting? How will this affect your talk?
  • Structure and 'story' of a presentation
  • Slide design, not decoration
  • Stage fright and how to enjoy the adrenaline
  • Rhetorics
  • Your own presentation: Integrate what you have learned and get feedback
  • Q&A sessions

When: 3x2 h webinars with mandatory attendance on September 22, 23 and 25 from 12:00-14:00, in addition to self-paced online learning  (different formats, including videos, individual and peer exercises, eBooks, etc.). This online course will give you flexibility, but keep in mind that your overall time investment is roughly equivalent to two full workshop days. The days with the webinars (Sep 22-25) are the busiest; the self-paced learning can be be completed within a specified period at your own convenience.
